Love Belongs To Us
Rose Sanchez has partnered up with Future is Color to share the story of her romantic drama short film based on true events. Our collective goal is to emphasize themes portrayed in her film that are universal to all humans. We hope to encourage viewers to see beyond the 'queer film' category and relate to the experiences of queer individuals, thereby humanizing the community instead of boxing them into a separate set of struggles. Additionally, we aim to highlight the importance of portraying sapphic films away from the objectification of the male gaze, focusing instead on authentic and respectful storytelling.
We All Deserve Love
We deserve to witness our love authentically depicted in cinema and to engage with films that resonate with our Sapphic experiences. As humans, we should not be confined to stereotypes or be boxed in by our sexuality. We should not be limited by how our stories are told. Love is universal, and our ordinary human experiences deserve authentic portrayal.
Recognizing Patterns and Breaking Cycles
Confronting deeply ingrained habits and emotional responses, such as the destructive cycle of alcoholism, can lead to a journey of freeing oneself from persistent feelings of inadequacy and being undervalued. Breaking these patterns is not only about ending negative behaviors but also about healing and reclaiming one's sense of self-worth and agency.
The Complexities of Vulnerability in Friendship
Relationships, whether romantic or platonic, are fundamental to personal growth, shaping our identities, and guiding our understanding of ourselves and others. The comfortability found in these bonds and the intersections of love, can lead to both profound connections and emotional suffering.
Choosing Comfort at the Expense of Love
Fear and codependency can lead us to settle for a safe but unfulfilling love. The apprehension of taking a leap of faith into the unknown is a common human experience, yet it is only by confronting this fear that we can open ourselves to truly transformative relationships.
